Between the accessibility of Ride, the spaciousness of Swervedriver and the mellowness of Chapterhouse, Texan shoegazers, Concrete Robot, emerge with a wonderful, fuzzy and dreamlike first single off their self titled debut EP.
The very tuneful Trip The Light was recorded with Erik Wofford (Black Angels, Explosions In The Sky, White Denim), and the enticing, vintage looking visuals of its accompanying video document the band's time on the road. The song is a crisp, four-minute piece of traditional shoegaze pop based on a dazzling, memorable melody, contrasted with a lot of distortion, and conjuring up memories from the self-celebrated genre's early days.
Concrete Robot is the songwriting means of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Andy Castro, and judging from the project's debut five-song EP, it's certainly an act to keep an eye on.
