After the very promising power pop blitheness of their recent single, Blister, Champaign, Illinois-based act, Nectar, reveal their second single for 2020, a minute and a half, straightforward, guitar-driven indie rock track that leans more on the band's pop punk side.
Written by singer and guitarist, Kamila Glowicki, during a time when she was binge-watching the MTV show Catfish, Fishy, becomes a standard example of the young band's characteristic energy, and something that embodies the aberrant love stories that derive from the consuming source from which it draws inspiration. Furthermore, the song's juxtaposition of instrumental jauntiness and confronting lyrics definitely demonstrates one of the strongest qualities in Nectar's songwriting.
The song was previously released by the band on a split record with Jupiter Styles (fka Single Player), and later re-recorder during the same sessions as Blister. Both songs evince a strong year for the power pop quartet who gather momentum with each new single release.
