In a remarkable career that includes his groundbreaking material as a member of Spacemen 3, his contribution to acts like Spectrum, E.A.R., Magnétophone and more, and a series of celebrated works as a producer for albums by Blair 1523, Panda Bear, MGMT, and D//E Album of the Year 2018, Beach House's 7, Peter Kember's Sonic Boom moniker which serves as the one for his solo endeavors, has been a little overlooked. Most prominently he released a collaborative record with Noy Joy two years ago, but hasn't come through with a full length since his 1990 debut, Spectrum.
Kember is now readying the release of a new LP as Sonic Boom, All Things Being Equal, scheduled to arrive June 5th, 2020 via Carpark Records, and introduced by single and music video for album opener, Just Imagine, a trippy, psychedelic, ambitious and grippingly monotonous eight-minute cut. The song draws inspiration from a story Kember read "about a boy who healed his cancer by picturing himself as a storm cloud, raining out his illness."
