Introduced in January with the absorbing album closer, Crossing Over, Windy & Carl's first full length is six years, Allegiance and Conviction is now shaping up as a very much compelling new offering from the veteran act, after the unveiling of the expansive, niine-minute piece, Moth To The Flame. The album comes out March 27th, 2020 through Kranky.
An ecstatically droning piece which relates to both the exploratory nature of minimalistic ambient music and the dreaminess of shoegaze and slowcore, Moth To The Flame is the Michigan duo in superbly absent-minded, yet, very creative mode. The song features another distinctive blend of Carl Hultgren’s layered guitars and atmospherics alongside a whispering, fragile vocal by Windy Weber.
Allegiance and Conviction was written and recorded over the course of six years, and finds the band still incredibly poetic and artful pulling through the third decade of their career.
