Gothenburg band, Skin Care, follow their recent single, Sleep, with another self-produced piece of shoegaze distinction, the six-minute long Loveless which for good reason, both musically and apropos to its title, hints to My Bloody Valentine, yet, the song goes way beyond that to also showcase the prospects of a fresh act that's obviously on fire and ready to take off.
Loveless overflows with reverb, soft vocals, sharp jangly guitars, and wistful sentiments, and although it's an extensive cut, it appears poles apart from flatness. Instead the song's lengthiness works well to its benefit, as it manages to sink its teeth deeper the closer it approaches its brill conclusion.
"Loveless is about wanting to lose control and fall in love, but to feel prevented from it by the fear of what to come," the band remark.
Skin Care are Greta, Carro, Siri and Olle, and they have established a strong live presence in the past months including dates with Westkust and other Swedish acts. Apparently they're also one of the genre's most refreshing and exciting to follow new bands.
