Miniatures' Annemarie Duff writes and records under the moniker T. G. Shand, and through it delivers excellent dreampop in the vein of genre greats such as Curve and Cocteau Twins.
New four-song release, Golden Hour EP, follows the act's debut single, Girls, from 2018, and presents the artist's vision for soft shoegaze in fully realized form, while drawing influence from more diverse styles.
"I produced this EP pretty slowly over a year or so, song by song," the artist reveals and lets us in on the song's intent and creative process. "The lyrics are very much up for interpretation. I'm still getting used to writing with a guitar instead of a keyboard. The beats are all electronic and have been influenced by the rolling beats of Curve and various hip hop producers. This EP was self recorded/produced in Christchurch, NZ."
The EP's opener and title track is a solid depiction of both T. G. Shand's enveloping songwriting, and the new release's distinction.
