Hailing from Berlin, Germany, enigmatic darkwave act, Desolation Years, follow their self-titled debut EP from 2019 and the very recent two-song release, Nights Illusion, with a new track of industrial and coldwave darkness.
Tanzen is the duo's most enchanting track thus far, a piece that makes an exhibition of a fantastic vocal delivery with a nihilistic character that pairs well with the quivering instrumentals. The propulsive song excites and leaps out for the heavy and emphatic enunciation, as well as the gloomy lyrical content, while it inescapably brings to mind the expressive theatricality of Blixa Bargeld, all combined with a darkly glimmering spirit and the danceable qualities of classic goth pop and darkwave.
Three releases in, Desolation Years come forth distinctly, and get across that their fast development can't be momentary.
