Constructed around a songwriting style which goes back to the pop of the fifties and sixties, together with the band's own shrewdness, Without You is the newest single off What We Started, the latest album by Ottawa-based duo, Paragon Cause.
Next to the strong impression that the album elementally leaves, it should definitely be mentioned that this follow up to the the band's EP, Lies Between Us, from last year, was produced in collaboration with The Raveonettes' Sune Rose Wagner, and comes together with a graphic novel on which Paragon Cause teamed up with artist Deniz Gulmez.
Without You is the synthpop duo's most rock bent piece and it comes with the kind of fuzz that a Jesus and Mary Chain song would carry, alongside heightened senses of notions of bitterness and sarcasm which results in something all the way elated.
