Serpent Omega: Orog Nuur

Mingling many different kinds of heaviness, Sweden's Serpent Omega return with their anticipated sophomore full length, II, following their self-titled debut from 2013. The new album was recorded in Stockholm by the band's guitarist, Jonsson, mixed by Robert Pehrsson (Runemagick, Death Breath, Robert Pehrsson’s Humbucker) and mastered by Magnus Lindberg Productions (Cult of Luna), and comes out September 4th, 2020 on Icons Creating Evil Art.

First single, Orog Nuur, is a massive slow burning piece of graspable riffs, forged on a doom metal foundation which ultimately expands toward sludge, death metal and crust in a way that strikes as most consistent and coherent. Themed on an apocalyptic concept while marked by bleak lyrics, the song culminates in something very much expansive, merciless and glum.

"This song got its name from a lake in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia," Jonsson explains. "Like nomads in a cosmic desert we were happy to find this portal to another dimension. But we got unexpected company and not even the flames can save us. There is no escape. They breed in fire."

The band's current lineup is composed of original members Urskogr (vocals), Brief (bass), and Jonsson (guitars) who are joined by Peter Stjärnvind aka Fast Feet Pete (Entombed, Nifelheim, Merciless and many more) on drums. The band will perform the new album live for the first time in Stockholm at Macken Festival 2020.
