Muted Gold is the latest single from the interestingly titled, Fad, the forthcoming debut by Irish band, Silverbacks, who have been building a strong reputation with their earlier singles at a very steady pace. The albums was produced by Girl Band bassist, Daniel Fox, and sees the band at their most grown and refined state in their path thus, as they keep up with their habit of combining and challenging genres with consummate skill.
The new single echoes the savvy and exploratory originality of Talking Heads more than any other instance in the Silverbacks' previous efforts, while it also feels heavily keen on that same late seventies era, and all kinds of artful punk. The track comes with a DIY video created by the band, and filmed just weeks before quarantine.
"The video is loosely inspired by early Stereolab music videos," says Daniel O'Kelly, singer and guitarist for Silverbacks. "It's a collection of clips from a few band outings we had near our practice space before the lockdown began. Fun fact, Peadar used to work in a bowling alley. Despite not having played in years he scored 192 on the day we brought the camera."
