Rooted in San Francisco and Florida, punk band, Drainer, have just released a new EP which was very recently recorded in Oakland with Jack Shirley. Year Round EP comes with a pop punk mindset and feels firmly based on nineties punk and guitar-driven indie rock. It's a set of seven well-crafted songs covering a tight range of sounds including post grunge, post hardcore and shoegaze.
Murderer carries its lo-fi qualities really well, and it's one of the EP's most memorable moments, sounding like a junction between the genre's past, akin to the sound of Sebadoh and Sonic Youth, and its present, shiftily paralleled to the nerve that Citizen and Culture Abuse have offered with their recent releases.
