Beneath a Steel Sky is a very fresh post rock/metal act which was recently put together in the midst of the Covid-19 lockdown. The project has already a six-track full length on their hands, entirely created through online collaboration.
Beneath a Steel Sky's self-titled album was written, recorded and mixed remotely, and it was mastered by Brad Boatright (Stranger Things, Torche, Frontierer). It releases in its entirety on September 4th, 2020, and it's being introduced by The Audient Void, a six and a half-minute epic, instrumentally muscly, crystalline and super sharp as a production. The track harks back to the halcyon days of post rock through its intricate song structure, engaging build ups and overall immersive instrumental sophistication, while it also feels rather animated, and fitting to the alertness of the times and circumstances under which it was created.
This first piece demonstrates the band's proclivity for a darker sound, and comes fully atmospheric, with an experimental weight, and keen on soundscapes which suggest cosmic horror conceptions.
