Kill the Day is the third single from New York's rising shoegazers, CITYGIRL, who follow their first couple of releases, Hollow Future and Now They Want It, with something even more avantgardistic and mystifying.
Straight off the new track comes forth like a forward thinking piece which looks curiously at contemporary electronica and trip-hop, and implements a fresh air of moodiness in the band's tried and tested dreampop sound, calling to mind acts who have mastered this stylistic crossway in the past, like Seefeel and Bowery Electric.
"Kill the Day is a dance with the devil of heartache in all its curious rapture," the band describe with accuracy, and present another shimmering cut; a fine juxtaposition of modesty and melancholy which contributes to the accumulation of a strong early catalog for CITYGIRL.
