Doom metal duo, Divide and Dissolve, will be releasing their new seven-inch, TFW, on August 7th, 2020, part of the Saddle Creek’s Document Series. The record will be composed of two songs, and it is introduced with RVR, a droning, exceedingly heavy slow burning instrumental, which is very much consistent with the massive sound of the band's previous outings, and their progressive spirit.
"We would like to observe a radical shift in the current paradigm of complacency in regards to oppressive power dynamics, genocide, racism, white supremacy, and colonization," the band have previously stated. "To give weight and validation to voices that are traditionally misrepresented and criminalized before given a chance to speak."
Not unlike the pioneering sound of Earth in terms of droning repetitiveness and minimalism. Divide and Dissolve come forth with something utterly arresting, very organic and downright ingenious.
"TFW is a manifestation of our resistance to colonization, slavery, racism, the carceral state, imperialism, and oppressive power structures and idealogies," says part of the duo's statement about the new single's aim.
Divide and Dissolve are Takiaya Reed (saxophone, guitar, live effects) and Sylvie Nehill (drums, live effects). Their seven-inch comes ahead of the band's upcoming full length, produced by Ruban Nielson of Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
