Hugar reveal another gorgeous track off the upcoming, The Vasulka Effect, their album which is attached to the motion picture of the same name. The uplifting Reykjavík is a demure piano piece which brings to mind the most reticent moments of Sigur Rós, as well as the arresting film work of Jóhann Jóhannson, two names with which Hugar collaborated in the past.
Having accomplished a whole lot in very little time, with the band's own Bergur Þórisson having become Björk's music director, Hugar continue to explore the many possibilities of the sound, whether that's through modern post rock approaches or by way of more classical moods and flavors, like the graceful spareness of Reykjavík, a piece that pays a loving tribute to the Icelandic capital and the band's beginnings.
The Vasulka Effect: Music for the Motion Picture comes out October 2nd, 2020 through Sony Music Masterworks.
