Shoegaze veteran, Evan Sue-Ping, returns with new project, Las Venus Electric, and a dynamic first single, harbinger of the upcoming Knownothing EP, expected out in its entirety in November 2020.
In the nineties Evan Sue-Ping fronted Toronto shoegaze unit, My Pet Genius who released the underappreciated great, Might Strike Satellite, in 1996 before they disbanded, leaving behind a big amount of unreleased material.
Las Venus Electric finds the artist completely reinvigorated, with a clearer sound, and carrying a few bold ideas, all translated into an explosive version of guitar-laden shoegaze rock. First piece, MiddleAgeless, is full of youthful energy, tuneful melodies and an adroitly fuzzy style of production which brings everything together to a seamless and exciting outcome. Sue-Ping describes the new song vividly as "a middle finger straight up to the concept of growing old gracefully."
The new song comes with a DIY video put together by Sue-Ping himself, drawing caustic parallels between artificial reality and the real world.
