Hugely hopeful Australian noise rockers, Strange Unit, have just followed their self-titled debut album from November 2019 with a new four-song EP. Nail, Meet Hammer overflows with extreme punk energy, and it's introduced with an absolutely vicious title track which stands out for its hasty conciseness, the band's merciless delivery and an incredible production, mixed by Stuart Richardson and mastered by Dave Draper.
Nail, Meet Hammer came to be after the crash of a hard drive full of new material which led the band to experiment with phone app based sequencing, resulting in a completely different creative direction and process.
The super noisy cut comes with a quite direct video shot by Patrick Callow, and appears representative of the band's intense presence and performance.
Nail, Meet Hammer is out through STD70%, and one of its three remaining tracks is a convincing Nirvana cover which makes for another adequate reason to look at the release as a whole.
