One of this publication's favorite shoegaze bands, and twice AOTY champions, Nothing, return with album number four which has just been announced. Recorded entirely in quarantine, The Great Dismal will be following Dance on the Blacktop from 2018, and it comes out on October 30th, 2020, once again through Relapse Records.
New single, Say Less, checks all the boxes, from the existentialist unease to the perfectly produced grunge/shoegaze effect, and the strong memorability, and appears straight away as something indicative of the Philadephia band's sound.
“The Great Dismal refers to a swamp, a brilliant natural trap where survival is custom fit to its inhabitants,” Dominic Palermo states. “The nature of its beautiful, but taxing environment and harsh conditions can’t ever really be shaken or forgotten too easily.”
Say Less comes with an intense and very dark video, matching to the album's cover art, starring Bruno Pearson and directed by Jordan Hemingway.
