Following their latest single, Indigo, from last August, Canadian shoegazers, Talking Violet, dive deeper into that heavy shoegaze sound, showing a grittier and grungier aspect of the band's character with each new release.
New song, Bloom, amalgamates the band's influences from the obvious shoegaze, slowcore and grunge sources, and even suggests some underlying inspiration from punk sound and hardcore. Placing side by side the extreme distortion with much melodiousness, and the instrumental abrasion with soft vocals, the new song marks Talking Violet's progression as the band seems to be hitting their stride.
Talking Violet are showing signs of consistent maturation and maintain intact the dreamy qualities of their songwriting, while they seem to steadily tend toward more guitar driven compositions, achieving levels of grit which suit them pretty well.
