After a pair of EPs, Toronto post punk act, Peeling, led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Anna Timoshenko, releases new single, Ego Death, which introduces the project's anticipate debut album, Worshipper.
"There are way more crucial things to care about in the world than what people think of you. It’s a reminder not to let your pride or the fear of ridicule get in the way," says Timoshenko about the video which comes paired to the new song.
Through a hazy and well expressed vocal delivery, some dense instrumental fuzz, and drums by Preoccupations' Michael Wallace, Ego Death follows a psychedelic direction through krautrock and noise rock passages, giving rise to a lot of expectations in relation to the new album.
Worshipper will be the first release on Labyrinth Records, the label recently founded by Timoshenkodue, and it arrives on November 27th, 2020. "Labyrinth is a new outlet for creativity, self-expression and collaboration," the artist states. "My goal for starting a label is to bring together the DIY artists I love who are confronting the norm and challenging music industry standards. I want to help rebuild a sense of community among underground musicians and music fans that have been hard hit recently, especially with the abrupt halting of live shows and touring. Most importantly, no rapists, no racists and no fascists allowed."
