Pioneers of Japanese post rock, downy, have recently released their seventh album, and have just returned with the new standalone single, 17 gatsu, which finds the band exhibiting their technical skills and overall intricacy through a more complex composition, with the main focus being the drumming and percussion.
Characteristic of the band's exploratory nature, 17 gatsu becomes a captivating additional listen, and a strong complementary track to the charm which their recent album, 第7作品集『無題』, emanated. Elaborate, yet, not over-complicated, the new song further affirms the veteran act's sophistication, and their ability to use odd time signatures but still come up with something reachable and familiar.
