As mainstream movies keep solidifying their vast inferiority, and while the digital distribution of television keeps gaining ground as possibly the main source of entertainment in the seclusive times we're living, there are few films which preserve cinema's integrity, and as expected they come with an independent and unconventional spirit.
All ten films in D//E's 2020 end of year list convey impressions of depravity and wickedness, and they stand far beyond the norm, while we also have a pentad of documentaries on topics well beloved, and a group of ten movie scores which can make their presence felt both as part of the films to which they belong or on an individual level.
While the fun of compiling these is not totally lost, there is a good chance 2020 will be the last time we include standup comedy and film categories in our end of year coverage. A more laser-like focused D//E moves forward.
