Far Away So Close, the newest single by dreampop duo, Secrecies, gets a standalone release as a different take from the one included in band's self-titled album from 2019. The new version of the song was produced by Alex Bhore of Elmwood Studios in the band's hometown, Dallas, TX, and although it was originally conceived and put together before COVID-19 stroke, it has eventually gotten a different meaning given the current situation.
The song was written by lead singer and songwriter, Shawn Magill, about a love triangle in which she imagines her Great Grandmother involved. "It's about forbidden love that can't be acted upon because of tradition, honor and duty," Secrecies describe, as they pull from the airiness of dreampop's frontline, and through an equally atmospheric synthpop manner, they deliver a stately version of one their recent album's most conspicuous tracks.
Far Away So Close is paired to a beautiful visual directed by Jeremy McKane, and featuring Ashley Baxter.
