Trip hop duo, The Actions, have just released their new album, Flourish, through Niteo Records, a dense set of songs which deals with concepts of uneasiness, agitation and escapism, and presents a fresh sound which goes back to the genre's prime while looking consistently forward.
"The record encapsulates a moment in time;" the band describe, "the moment you overcome your fears, take a deep breath and embrace the unknown of a new you, leaving your old self behind. Flourish is about letting go, finding your way forward. Flourish is about rebirth."
Album standout, Old Flaw, is an ultra moody cut in the vein of Massive Attack's gloomier facet, husky and imposing, largely in the way the haunting vocal blends with the sharp instrumentals and the track's spotless self-production.
