Compared to their latest album, V, from 2017, The Horrors do a complete 180, and slant toward harsher, industrial sounds on their new track, Lout. It will be out as part of a digital three-track EP on March 12th, 2021 via Wolf Tone/Caroline, and on a physical release on blood red seven-inch vinyl, together with another track, Org.
"Lout is about the relationship between choice and chance, compulsive risk-taking and pushing your luck," says singer, Faris Badwan. "As a band, particularly live, we’ve always had an aggressive side and as we began writing new songs it became clear that we were heading in that direction."
The band also take their new artistic direction to stranger territories on the visual front, with a new clip directed by the band in collaboration with Bunny Kinney and Isamaya Ffrench, and scored by guitarist Joshua Third and keyboardist Tom Furse.
