Bristol, UK punks, The New America, continue in the same socially and politically aware nature of their previous singles with the radicalism of their new track, Hong Kong Free Press, another sharply produced cut, straightforward and easy to appreciate for some very right reasons.
"Hong Kong Free Press is a call to recognize those who are fighting the good fight and to acknowledge our own failures to do the same," the band's statement mentions. "When the song was written in the summer of 2019, everyone was watching the one million people demonstrating on behalf of democracy. Since then we’ve turned our heads to our own problems, finding out the threat was much closer to home. If nothing else, Hong Kong Free Press reminds us to always keep our eyes and ears open and to act decisively when we can."
Hong Kong Free Press finds The New America a tad more approachable than before, and on a consistent and considerable ascending course.
