Capetown, South Africa ambient musician and film composer, Jason van Wyk, has announced his upcoming fourth album, Threads, expected out on July 23rd, 2021 through n5MD. The new full length comes by way of the artist's "focus on writing music for (and of) our current times," and the first piece off it is soundly atmospheric.
The album's elegant track, Amidst, is a spacious, richly textured piece of controlled ambiance, with van Wyk's cinematic propensities edging in shiftily, and the neoclassical components of his sound pervading in a subtle, yet, essential manner.
As notions of serenity and intensity come opposing each other, Amidst makes pristine use of its perceptive instrumentation, eventually constituting a fine piece of experimental electronica.
Threads will be following van Wyk's previous albums; Days You Remember (2013), Attachment (2016) and Opacity (2017).
