There's a rising, hopeful act in the world shoegaze, Manchester's crush, whose new single, Chewed, finds the band taking a bit of a darker direction compared to the softer dreampop of their early beginnings, while they also indulge in a denser instrumental approach, and try an expansive take on their compositional method.
Vocalist Amber Warren comments on the band's new single: "We wrote Chewed during a period of self-reflection during lockdown. The lyrics are about coming to the realisation that some relationships in your life are bound to expire, but inevitably you find the right people for you. The track was also about developing our sound as a band, we wanted to experiment more and lean into our love of shoegaze. The result of this was Chewed."
A deeply sentimental piece, and very well developed, Chewed is the first of a series of releases which the band will be offering in 2021, as they acquaint themselves to the new adjustments of their lush sound.
