A new rising force in the world of shoegaze comes through the artistry and wistful sound of British band, Fehlt, a project originated in 2019 by art student Ewan Barr (guitars, vocals), and rounded out by Will Shuttleworth (guitar), Anna Patterson (violin), Adam Rundle (bass) and Ben Udin (drums) as a fully fledged band.
Fehlt showed strong signs of potentiality with their first two-song release, Closure, two years ago, and now return with new single, Light Porcelain, on which the band collaborates with their fellow Leeds-based dreampop artist, Boshe. A salutation of wistfulness, the new song combines dreampop atmospherics with shoegaze and krautrock expansiveness in a splendid four-minute total.
Ewan Barr comments on the new song: “Light Porcelain’ was the first track I wrote after moving to Leeds, At the time I was acclimatising to a new city, Pavement’s Wowee Zowee soundtracked this period for me and I think that is most apparent in the intro. The notion of adapting to a new way of living in many ways being the abolition of my mental state. It’s about the one who’s by your side in life’s dark passages.”
Light Porcelain was recorded and produced by the band's own Ewan and Ben, and mastered by Slowdive's Simon Scott. It is out now through Clue Records.
