San Francisco extreme metal act, Succumb, follow their strong self-titled debut album from 2017 with the upcoming XXI, expected out on September 24th, 2021 through The Flenser. Once again, the new album was recorded with Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Bosse-de-Nage, Botanist, Oathbreaker).
Vocal-centric, very poetic on the lyrical front, and quite raucous musically, the new album is themed on the elements and their associated legends, being titled after final tarot card in the Major Arcana.
First single, Okeanos, is a rather chaotic, sharp and intense metal endeavor, with the abysmal vocals at the center augmenting the band's instrumental death metal cogency.
Succumb are composed of Cheri Musrasrik (vocals), Derek Webster (guitars), Kirk Spaseff (bass, vocals), Harry Cantwell (drums). One of the most cultivated extreme acts out there, lyricist Musrasrik names authors and poets like Yeats, Genet and Zola as main influences.
