Poison, the second single off the anticipated next Xeno & Oaklander album, is pure synthpop exquisiteness. The duo's seventh full length, Vi/deo, is due out on October 22nd, 2021 through Dais Records.
Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride's minimal approach to synthpop, electronica and darkwave feels more accomplished than ever, and the band's sound finds perfect visual representation in the video which they co-directed with long-time collaborator Scott Kiernan, drawing inspiration from the giallos and the Italian horror flicks of the seventies.
"We were dying to make a horror film in the style of Suspiria, and we wanted it to look like a VHS tape from the video store," Wendelbo admits. "Poison has an Italo Disco feel to it and co-directing with Scott Kiernan felt like the perfect match." Together with the music's vibrant disco glam, the outcome is striking, and then some.
