Bringing forward an imposing riot grrrl sound and mindset, New Yorkers Bad Static release new single, Freak, a menacing punk rocker with a strong and clear message, as well as a subtly more psychedelic approach compared to the style's norms.
The band explain the song's aim: "The song is about the double standards of men and women in sex culture. For men they are cheered on for being promiscuous, while women are called demeaning words."
Bad Static are composed of Nicol Maciejewska (vocals, rhythm guitar), Kelsie Williams (back up vocals, bass), Mario DiSanto (lead guitar), and Demetrio Abikkaram Ricardo (drums). The band is working toward the release of their album, Cherry Cyanide, expected later in Fall 2021.
