Converge are back, and they have brought good company. Bloodmoon: I will be the band's upcoming collaborative album created together with Chelsea Wolfe and her bandmate/writing partner Ben Chisholm, as well as Cave In vocalist and guitarist Stephen Brodsky. The project has its roots in 2016 when the seven-piece performed at Roadburn festival under the name Blood Moon.
“I feel like everyone just kept the music in mind and wanted to do what’s best for the song,” says Stephen Brodsky. Chelsea Wolfe adds: “The project stretched my vocals in new ways. It’s so different than what I normally sing over that I was able to open up and be vulnerable with my vocals.”
“Our dynamics are pushing and pulling in all different directions on this record, and I find that to be creatively rewarding,” Jacob Bannon concludes.
Spine-chilling and immensely heavy, the eight-minute track Blood Moon oscillates between dark lyricism and extremity, and it has already earned a place among the finest moments in the canons of everyone involved.
Bloodmoon: I was produced by Kurt Ballou, and it comes out on November 19th, 2021 (CD/Digital) via Epitaph Records, and on June 24th, 2022 (vinyl) via Deathwish.
