After their surprising return with the new track, Oxygen Tent, more new material from post metal band, Kowloon Walled City, was reasonably anticipated. The Oakland group returned with their first new piece of music in six years, and they unveil more, together with the announcement of their new album, Piecework.
Opening number and title track, finds the band maximizing the minimalistic take on the noise rock and post hardcore genres, sounding more self-restrained than ever. This also promises to be the approach for the entire album, with guitarist Jon Howell describing that these creative methods found Kowloon Walled City “restraining ourselves into oblivion.”
Piecework was recorded by KWC singer and guitarist Scott Evans, and marks the recording debut of drummer Dan Sneddon five years after joining the band. The album comes out on October 8th, 2021 via Neurot Recordings and Gilead Media.
