Sydney/Berlin experimental dreampop band, Fabels, release a very engaging session of their atmospheric piece Takko, originally part of their very good new album, Minds, released earlier in 2021.
A composed and focused slow builder, the nine-plus-minute number makes its way across passages of darkwave, post rock and ambient to ultimately strike like something difficult to interpret, yet, poignant and affecting. After the oneiric broodiness of its first minutes, the song slowly forms its majestic shape to give the impression of a dreamlike and well detailed cut.
Recorded over the course of three years with Icelandic music producer Geir Brillian Gunnarsson, Minds is thoroughly representative of Fabels artistic vision, and definitely an absorbing listen.
