Experimental musician Simon McCorry has released his new album, I Laugh, I Cry, an atmospheric work of art which mainly draws from the realms of neoclassical and electronic music, giving the idea of something both time-honoured and avant-garde.
The artist's influences include diverse names like Aphex Twin, Jon Hassell, King Tubby and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, as well as 20th Century composer György Ligeti. Through his own sound McCorry manages to translate those different sources of inspiration into something cohesive, minimal and constantly enticing.
From the new album, Tipping Point is a suspenseful, textured track, blending electronics and piano in an idiosyncratic, yet, exciting way.
