Acid Smoker, the project of Portland, Maine-based artist Brian Hanson, is one of the superlative acts on the fine roster of the Olympia-based independent label, 2060 Records.
A distinctive three-minute track, Freakout lives up to its title, and sounds so incredibly familiar from the first listen, like a highlight track off an obscure psychedelic garage rock anthology from the sixties. Established on memorable riffs and direct lyrics, the song is one of the most straightforward offerings the band has put out thus far.
Freakout is part of Acid Smoker's new album, Concrete Problems, which has just been released, following the EP Nothing Feels Right from 2018.
