Composed of couple Bridgette Eliza Moody and John Seasons, atmospheric folk duo, Haunted Summer, release new single and video for their haunting rendition of Daniel Johnston’s You Put My Love Out The Door, and introduce their upcoming album, Whole, out in June 2022 via LaunchLeft.
The song is accompanied by a gloomy and cinematic video directed by Geoff Ryan, which was shot oceanside at Point Arena, California, the westernmost point in the lower 48 states. The band found that the location's dreary cloudy sky combined with the Pacific Ocean's crashing waves provided the ideal mixture of "melancholia and cinematic majesty."
John Seasons comments: “We wanted it to feel like you were in another world. We were truly blessed with the weather playing a starring role in the video — giving us all aspects of its beauty.”
LaunchLeft’s Rain Phoenix adds: “I think the song speaks to the lyrical theme of the rest of the album where you confront the ones that have hurt you, either intentionally or not. You don't necessarily need an apology or even a reply, but just speaking your own piece gives you peace. And the fact that we were able to pull it together to release in time for Valentine's Day made it even more special.”
