Shoegaze pop hopeful, Oliver Beardmore, began with a more conformist indie rock direction, with a few singles which drew comparisons to acts like Alex Turner and Noel Gallagher, yet, the artist's latest endeavors found him shifting the focus towards shoeagaze and dreampop's vanguard, with apparent hints at the sound of Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive.
Closer is part of Beardmore's hazy and warm debut EP, Not Sinking, Yet Floating, a cohesive and homogenous release anchored in guitar-laden showers and reverb-heavy synths. With the pop sensibilities still around, the upcoming artist's shift toward a more gazey and esoteric style is sure to pique curiosity.
