After an eight year-long gap, Austin, Texas shoegazers Letting Up Despite Great Faults deliver their new album, IV, which sprung a series of engaging singles, and ultimately came out to be a solid set of based, well produced, shimmering dreampop songs.
IV, which is more guitar-focused than the band's previous material, may find the band in a reinvigorated state, yet its warm juxtaposition of buoyancy and melancholy stays whole and sticks out highly inspirational.
Self-Portrait, the album's closing number, is no exception to Letting Up's pretty jangliness, this time overplaying the fuzz in a creatively playful manner.
