Danish dreampop band Pinemoon return with new single Ghost Light off their upcoming EP of the same name. The band returns to the familiar somber dreampop path of their earlier material, remaining genuinely melancholic, but with a gently optimistic feel this time.
Ghost Light was recorded live in the studio, carrying analog mix which grants it a comforting, sentimental sound and secures that the music comes across as authentic. The EP will be released on the German record label LIVE TALENT Records on May 6th, 2022.
Pinemoon's core members (Christoffer Schultz -composer, lyricist, vocals, keys and guitars, and Steven Stern Stewart - bass) were raised in strict Christian settings where their faith and belief in divine involvement in life didn't allow much room for skepticism, hence the new EP comes with an existential feel revolving around the perplexed emotions which a grounded viewpoint collides with the common realities.
Ghost Light is drenched in melancholy fore and aft, and its dreampop attraction, along with the cathartic and grandiose post rock qualities, makes for a great, repeatable listen.
