While we await for more new music from T. G. Shand, the dreampop project of Annemarie Duff, formerly of Melbourne shoegazers Miniatures, and with a full length being in the works, the artist has just released another standalone single.
Little Sieve shows T. G. Shand clearly cemented in the airy and beautifully melodious dreampop basis for which she's generally recognized, but also sees her branching out into more experimental grounds, with a fuller production, especially notable in the song's instrumental version which serves as the b-side.
Little Sieve seems like a different and quite ambitious composition from T. G. Shand, with its beat-driven approach coming across more quirky than the project's previous offerings.
The artist describes: “Written as a chronic cynic, trying out dipping my toes into the soup, right at the end of summer in New Zealand 2022. Not that it matters what I think about life, but this was a fun wee tune to make.”
