Bestial Mouths return with single and video, I am the Spell, out through Negative Gain. The song will also be on the darkwave outfit's anticipated new album, R.O.T.T. (inmyskinn), due out in Fall 2022.
I am the Spell cites inspiration from eighties synthpop greats Book Of Love, and their 1985 single, Boy. It's a vibrant song expressing discontent which could be interpreted as body dysmorphia, but by the conclusion, those concerns have given way to approval and a restoration of control.
The sweeping I Am The Spell was inspired by encounters with bullies, abusers and those who enjoy exercising control on others.
"The only way to defeat such demons is to reverse the flow of power," Bestial Mouths state. "Take back what is yours—your control, your name, your body and mind. Darken their skies, and give them only what they already had: sorrow."
In keeping with the band's always intriguing visuals, I am the Spell arrives with a beautiful video directed by Nath Milburn.
10% of all proceeds from this track go to Hope For The Day.
