MONASTR is a two-piece band from Marseille, France, who deliver a doom-based, sludgy heavy rock sound in the vein of post metal greats like Neurosis, Cult of Luna and the like.
Following a two-song demo recording from 2019, the band emerge with the imposing first single, A new beginning, which they describe as "a song about life extinction..." It's an eleven-minute epic with progressive rock subtexts, thick and muscled instrumentals and lyrics which depict despair in several levels in an overall passionate presentation.
Keeping crust and edgy post metal alive and on its toes, MONASTR are undoubtedly one on which to keep heavy rock audiences updated.
