Cathedral Bells began as a solo musical experiment in the Fall 2018 with demos which exhibited a jangly guitar and synth-based style, crafted in Matthew Messore's bedroom with a completely DIY approach. Since then the project has evolved in a quite notable manner, honing a sharp dreampop style and sound with post punk implications and elements from nineties and oughties alternative.
Afterglow is the new single from Cathedral Bells, part of the two song release, Fall Into Place / Afterglow. The song leans heavily toward the band's livelier side, with the nostalgic characteristics coming through in an expressive way. The exquisite shoegaze pop of Afterglow features an impeccable production with creative use of reverb and finely crafted instrumentals, and when combined with the previously released Fall Into Place, makes for a rather imposing compact package.
