New York City five-piece, GIFT, emerge with the impressive single and video, Gumball Garden, the first offering off their upcoming full length, Momentary Presence, which arrives in its entirety on October 14th, 2022 through Dedstrange.
Next to the interesting fusion of styles which involves a psychedelic rock base with shoegaze, post punk, noise rock and dreampop implementation, GIFT also appear very much engaging conceptually. Momentary Presence refer to the teachings drawn from Be Here Now, the 1971 spiritual guide and counterculture landmark by guru Ram Dass, which feel especially pertinent today.
In his own journey for serenity and truth, GIFT bandleader TJ Freda, used those lessons and turned to music to find transcendence. After enlisting his bandmates Jessica Gurewitz, Kallan Campbell, Justin Hrabovsky, and Cooper Naess, all of whom have a penchant for generating compositions which are both wild and beautiful, the band came together naturally.
A superb shoegaze bent psychedelic rocker in the vein of Brian Jonestown Massacre and Spiritualized, Gumball Garden reveals a characterful act, full of promise and confidence.
