After recent collaborations with Gang Gang Dance, King Khan, Animal Collective's Geologist, Julia Holter, Sun Ra Arkestra and more, collaborative project, Meditations on Crime, unveil Nagual featuring Geneva Jacuzzi, together with a video starring actress Paz de la Huerta.
The impending album and art book which features art from Raymond Pettibon, Tracey Emin, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Cindy Sherman, Laurie Anderson, Mark Flood, Jessica Craig-Martin, Julian Schnabel and Gibb Slife, are set to be released on September 23rd, 2022.
“Everyone is fascinated by crime,” says the project's mastermind Harper Simon. “When you look at the history of song, romantic love songs may be the dominant mode of songwriting, but second would probably be songs involving crime—murder ballads, political protest songs; crime is a major theme in all songwriting.”
Nagual follows an interesting narrative with a hypnotic rhythm and a sultry synthpop foundation, giving Meditations on Crime a nearly krautrock demeanor.
