New York-based garage rockers, Laurel Canyon, present their new, double-sided single, Drop Out / Tangiers, recorded with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago. The cover art was created by Savage Pencil, known for the covers of Big Black's Headache, and Sonic Youth's Death Valley '69 and Teenage Riot amongst many others.
Laurel Canyon provide a pretty dominant garage rock sound with a lot of tenacity, noise rock electricity, punk rock of the grittiest kind, and fevered execution. Both songs on the new release are representative of the band's honest approach to songwriting, and they sound fairly ageless in their boldness, as if they could have derived from any moment in punk rock history.
Drop Out, Laurel Canyon's second EP, will be released on seven-inch vinyl by Nuclear Banana Records on Halloween, October 31st, 2022, and will include an additional cover song recorded with Albini during the same session.
Since recording these songs, Laurel Canyon has opened for Agent Orange at the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles, in addition to performing two shows in San Francisco and numerous others in New York City.
