Swallow the Rat return with the release of their newest single, Other Rooms, featuring Yuko Miyoshi of Auckland punks Memory Foam, who delivers a whole verse in rapid fire Japanese, while the song comes with a fiery mix by Oliver Ackermann of A Place to Bury Strangers/Death by Audio.
Other Rooms is accompanied by a self-produced video directed by band member Hayden Fritchley, and starring Miyoshi in a series of strobed out dream sequences.
With a nearly nightmarish approach that blends perfectly with the band's energy, Other Rooms is a fascinating track that finds Swallow the Rat in top shape overall, with Miyoshi crushing the second half with a severe part, taking the theme in an entirely new direction; narrating the story of someone locked in a room, attempting to escape but recognizing that the next room is probably worse.
