Glancing at the golden era of psychedelic Britpop and shoegaze, Italian band The Backlash have created a sound which is adventurous and whimsical, producing tracks that make for concise auditory excursions.
Rise, the band's new album, will be released on February 24th, 2023 by Italian label Dirty Beach and the cult shoegaze imprint Shore Dive from Brighton, UK, with a limited CD run. Rise is essentially a collection of songs which were self-published in early 2020, along with the EP Passing By and five brand new compositions. It was mastered by James Aparicio (producer for The Cult of Dom Keller, Throw Down Bones, Rev Rev Rev, Clustersun).
Loosen Up is a multi-dimensional, colorful, and expansive track in which the band wonderfully convey their influence from British alternative, with key reference points including Stone Roses, early The Verve, and Ride, while the brilliantly sharp production is also a clear winner.
